Information about the department
The Transplantation Surgery Department (TSD) is predominantly focused on transplantations of abdominal organs; abdominal surgical and vascular surgical procedures are also performed at the department.
The focus of TSD can be abbreviated as TAV:
T- Abdominal organ transplantation
C - Vascular surgery
The division of abdominal organs transplantation has a long and successful tradition at TSD. Considering the number of performed procedures, it is the largest transplantation unit in the Czech Republic.
The division performs transfers of kidneys, liver, pancreas, small intestine and vascular grafts.
The results of organ transplantations at TSD (reported as one-year survival of patients and grafts) are comparable to results achieved at the most advanced transplantation centres in the world.
The division of abdominal surgery provides care in the entire scope of hepatopancreatobiliary surgery and gastroenterosurgery. Our team also includes a clinical oncologist with postgraduate certificate II. All patients with malignant diseases are indicated at the indication seminar where decisions are made about the most appropriate comprehensive therapy.
The division of vascular surgery is an integral part of TSD. Its scope of activity is not only limited to Prague and its surroundings, but it offers comprehensive care to vascular patients from any part of the country and is one of the largest specialised and superconsulting centres in the Czech Republic for vascular surgery. At the same time, it is a training centre for vascular surgery in the postgraduate education programme of IPVZ (Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education).

Pracoviště transplantace nitrobřišních orgánů má na KTCH dlouholetou a úspěšnou tradici. Vzhledem k počtu provedených výkonů je největším transplantačním pracovištěm v České republice.
Provádějí se zde přenosy ledvin, jater, pankreatu, tenkého střeva a cévních štěpů.
Výsledky orgánových transplantací KTCH (udávané jako jednoroční přežívání pacientů a štěpů) jsou srovnatelné s výsledky dosahovanými v nejvyspělejších světových transplantačních centrech.
Pracoviště břišní chirurgie poskytuje péči v celém rozsahu hepatopankreatobiliární chirurgie a gastroenterochirurgie. Součástí našeho týmu je i klinický onkolog s atestací druhého stupně. Všichni pacienti se zhoubnými onemocněními jsou indikováni v rámci indikačního semináře, kde je rozhodnuto o nejvhodnějším postupu komplexní léčby.
Pracoviště cévní chirurgie je nedílnou součástí KTCH. Jeho působnost není omezena jen na oblast Prahy a okolí, ale nabízí komplexní péči cévním pacientům z celé naší republiky a je jedním z největších specializovaných a superkonziliárních pracovišť v České republice pro cévní chirurgii. Zároveň je školícím centrem pro obor cévní chirurgie v rámci postgraduální výuky IPVZ.
