Information about the department
The Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care provides anaesthesiological, resuscitation and intensive care to patients of the IKEM Transplantation Centre and Diabetology Centre. Care is also provided to patients from other IKEM departments, patients from other medical institutions and/or to patients not referred by any institution. The unit includes an outpatient office for the treatment of chronic pain.
The department includes a permanent emergency unit for acute procedures within the premises of IKEM.
The main focus of the department consists in the liver transplantation programme including liver transplantation in children, kidney and pancreas transplantation, small intestine transplantation, intensive post-operative care for patients after large abdominal and vascular procedures.
The department admits preferentially critically ill patients with liver failure and patients with transplanted organs who have developed complications during the long-term post-transplantation period requiring intensive care.
