Hospital Ombudsman
The Hospital Ombudsman post has been established out of IKEM respect for its patients and employees to facilitate smooth communication between the patients, their families and friends and employees of the Institute. The role of the Hospital Ombudsman is to address patients´ appeals, in case the patients feel they need to assert their rights, complain, request something or file other submissions, in the least conflicting manner with the aim to find a solution acceptable to all involved parties.
Hospital Ombudsman
- Is there to protect patients´ rights;
- Helps improve communication between the patients, their families and friends and employees of the Institute;
- Supports quality improvement of the provided health care services and maximum patient satisfaction;
- Works independently but in close contact with the hospital management and the heads of the individual health care departments.
The Hospital ombudsman is available any time and above all when:
- A patient believes his/her rights or the rights of his/her close persons have been infringed or threatened,
- There is an existing or threatening conflict at a department connected with health care service provision,
- There is insufficient communication between the involved parties with the need to address the issue impartially,
- There is a need to address problems among individual employees.
